The simplest way to describe it
Idea → prototype → production code, all inside one ecosystem. No Figma, no designer's calendar, no review cycles.
Powered by Claude Opus 4.7, Claude Design takes a plain-language description and builds a working, visual, interactive artifact, not a rough sketch or placeholder. Think landing pages, mobile app prototypes, slide decks and one-pagers. It reads your existing codebase and design files to extract your brand's colors, typography, spacing and components, then applies them automatically to every output.
What makes it different
- Prompt to prototype: describe any UI in plain language and Claude builds a functional, interactive version instantly.
- Auto design system: it reads your codebase and design files and keeps colors, type and components consistent across every output. It supports several design systems at once.
- Claude Code handoff: one instruction passes the whole design bundle to Claude Code, from exploration to production-ready front end, with no context switching.
- Multi-format export: PDF, PPTX, URL, HTML, or directly into Canva as a fully editable, collaborative document.
It's built on Canva's Design Engine, a two-year partnership that means every output is a fully editable Canva document the moment it's created. Your team can rework it, collaborate on it and publish it without starting from scratch.
The interface
A "Let's prototype" sidebar is the entry point. Describe your goal, upload a reference sketch or design file, and Claude starts building. Refine it in natural language, make inline edits, leave comments, or use an AI-generated slider to adjust spacing and layout. No design literacy is required: a founder, marketer or PM can produce output that would previously have taken a designer, a developer and two rounds of review.
Who gets access
- Pro, Max and Team: rolling out gradually in research preview.
- Enterprise: off by default; admins can enable it in Organization settings.
